Resumen de Miedos sociales y religión: una reflexión a partir del pentecostalismo urbano chileno

  Este artículo pretende analizar la relación existente entre ciertos miedos sociales presentes en la sociedad chilena y el abordaje que se les da desde el pentecostalismo. Afirmaremos que el miedo, en tanto factor de ruptura y cohesión social, constituye uno de los pilares fundamentales de la estructura discursiva pentecostal. Los miedos a lo sobrenatural, el demonio o "El Enemigo" se entrelazan con los temores que la sociedad moderna parece entregar a destajo. De esta forma, el factor asociativo desarrollado en un ambiente hostil, individualista y materialista, prototípico de las grandes ciudades, parece encontrar respuestas alternativas en el culto pentecostal.

  This article analyzes the relationship between certain social fears in Chilean society and the way pentecostalism approaches them. We will say that fear, as a factor for breaks and social cohesion, constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of the Pentecostal discursive structure. Fear of the supernatural, the devil, or "The Enemy" intertwine with the fears that modern society seems to serve up in huge quantities. Thus, the associative factor developed in a hostile, individualistic, materialist environment typical of large cities seems to find alternatives in the Pentecostal faith.
