Resumen de Increased Calcium Intake After 50 May not Reduce Fractures

Karen Rosenberg, Joan Zolot

  • According to this study:

    * Increasing calcium intake through either diet or supplementation doesn't appear to reduce the risk of fracture in older adults.

    * Serious adverse effects may trump the benefits of calcium supplements in older adults.

    * These recommendations are specific to people older than 50 years. Calcium intake during childhood remains important.
