Ideología y ciencia política e los Estados Unidos: origen y clímax de la revolución conductista en la ciencia política

    La característica identidad disciplinaria de la ciencia política estadounidense se formó durante la llamada revolución behaviorista o conductista. Ésta enfatizaba la necesidad de estudiar la política, especialmente la política democrática, científicamente. El estudio de la política debía ser ante todo empírico. En el enfoque behaviorista, la política democrática es analizada como la interacción y ajuste de intereses recíprocos entre diversos grupos, cuya pluralidad garantiza el funcionamiento democrático de la política, correspondiéndole al Estado un papel regulador marginal. Este enfoque perduraría sin cuestionamientos profundos hasta la sexta década del siglo XX, cuando se le hicieron diversas críticas tanto a sus premisas metodológicas como a las ideológicas Sin embargo, la revolución behaviorista establecería el perfil de la disciplina de la ciencia política hasta nuestros días.

    The particular disciplinary identity of American political sciences came into view during the so-called behaviorist revolution, which emphasized the need of studying politics, specially democratic politics in a scientific way; the study of politics had to be —above all— an empirical study. Concerning behaviorist approach, democratic politics is analyzed as the interaction and the reciprocal adjustment of interest among diverse groups. The plurality of such groups guarantees the democratic functioning of politics and the State has a regulating marginal role. Behaviorist approach would remain until the sixth decade of the 20th century without important opponents (until its methodological and ideological premises became criticized). Nevertheless, the behaviorist revolution would establish the profile of discipline concerning political sciences up to our days.
