Resumen de Currículo escolar y respeto a la diversidad: Retos en el Departamento de Educación de Puerto Rico

Esta investigación analiza los retos que enfrenta el Departamento de Educación de Puerto Rico para incluir, como parte de su programación académica, desde el nivel preescolar, un currículo sobre promoción y respeto a la diversidad, para los estudiantes del sistema público. Como parte del proceso investigativo, se atendieron los significados que cada participante le otorgó a la diversidad humana, desde la perspectiva de derechos humanos, y se analizaron las convergencias y discrepancias que surgieron de sus experiencias. El panorama resultante de las entrevistas realizadas permitieron, finalmente, identificar en dónde están los retos del Departamento de Educación puertorriqueño y sugerir algunas vías de acción apoyadas en un marco teórico y conceptual.

The aim of the investigation was to analyze the challenges the Department of Education faces in order to include a curriculum as part of the educational program about promoting respect for diversity for all the students within the public system. As part of the investigative process, we evaluated the meaning each participant inject diversity from the standpoint of human and analyzed the convergence, and also, the discrepancies that emerged from their experiences. The resulting picture of the interviews helped to understand where the challenges of the Department of Education lay and suggest the steps to take incased in a theoretical and conceptual frame.
