En la primera parte de este artículo se presenta una panorámica general sobre el imperio almohade: historia general; dimensión y alcance de su movimiento; orígenes, territorio y califas;
doctrina, organización y sociedad; el ejército; aspectos económicos; aspectos de la cultura. En la segunda parte, se aborda la influencia y repercusión almohade en Jaén, tanto en la capital como en los territorios de la actual provincia, atendiendo a diversos aspectos: políticos, militares, económicos y monetarios, urbanísticos, sociales y culturales.

The first part of this article presents a general overview of the Almohad empire: general history; extent and magnitude of the movement;
origin, territory and caliphs; doctrine, organization and society; the army; the economy;
culture. In the second part we analyse the influence and weight of the Almohads in Jaén, in both the capital and the territories that are found within the present-day province, paying attention to different aspects: political, economic and financial, urban, social and cultural.
