The article aims to demonstrate that the transmitted text of v. 3 in the Antigone of Sophocles is corrupt and that it is convenient to emendate ὁποῖον in ἐπεῖγον. Such conjecture has a sense more suitable for the character of the two sisters and for the ethic-religious and historical-political roots of the plot. It makes an attempt to insert the text so established in the rhetoric ability of Antigone; she uses an evidentia, a figure related, in the archaic and classical Greek literature, to the personification and to the capacity of the speaker to see the justice of Zeus at work.
