The Greek translation of Eutropius’ Breviarium made by Paeanius (4th. Century AD) was published last time by H. Droysen (1878). Few works have been dedicated to this author since. Only the article by S. Lampros (1912) was a real improvement on Droysen’s edition.
The editio princeps of Paeanius was published by F. Sylburg (1590) and we are acquainted he used a manuscript belonging to Pithou’s collection. Both Droysen and Lampros tried to find the manuscript employed by Sylburg, but neither of them succeeded (though Lampros made a probable hypothesis). A manuscript of Paeanius, which belonged to Pithou, belongs now to Rosanbo collection. I have collated the microfilm of this manuscript and I can prove that Sylburg used an apographon made from this manuscript.
