En las diferentes formaciones culturales que conviven el mismo espacio-tiempo en países distantes a Europa y USA, sus habitantes crean símbolos propios necesarios para sus discursos. Estos descentramientos de las Metrópolis tiene diferentes líneas de pensamiento más fieles y seguidoras de los dominadores o más resistentes a esos mandatos.
En estos territorios llamados antiguamente AbyaYala, habitados hoy por pueblos originarios y descendientes de europeos, esclavos traídos del África e inmigrantes recién llegados, al que hace menos de cuatrocientos años llaman América Latina para reconocer a los colonizadores latinos e ignorar a todos los demás.
En cada unidad cultural conviven corrientes que promueven la integración con sus Metrópolis lejanas y los que se resisten al dominio. Ni los impresionistas ni los conceptualistas ni las intervenciones urbanas que se plantean en América asemejan a los que se planteaban los artistas europeos. Al anclar la obra de arte en su tiempo y espacio para entenderlas, descubrimos las limitaciones para el análisis de las visiones europeas de la modernidad, posmodernidad y transmodernidad.

In the different cultural backgrounds coexisting in the same place-time in countries far from Europe and The United States of America, its inhabitants create their own symbols essential for their discourses. This process of decentralization from the Metropolis entails different lines of thought more devoted to and supporter of the dominators or more resistant to them.
This land, formerly known as AbyaYala, inhabited nowadays by native people and European descendents, slaves brought from Africa and newly arrived immigrants, has been called Latin America for almost four hundred years in an attempt to praise the Latin colonizers and to ignore all the others.
In every cultural unity, there coexist currents that encourage the integration with its remote Metropolis and those that resist the domination. Neither the impressionists, nor the conceptualists nor the urban interventions that arise in America resemble to those posed by European artists. By anchoring the work of art in time and place to appreciate it, we notice the difficulties to analyse the European view of modernity, postmodernity and transmodernity
