"We're still looking good on that schedule," [Lance Baller] said. Iofina's next plant, IO#3, is being fabricated with equipment and the company expects to receive the facility early in February 2013.
"The benefit of our business model is that we have low capital expenditure and low running costs compared to other producers," Baller said. "This will be important as additional iodine supply comes on-stream," he added.
Baller also said that the outlook for iodine prices remained generally positive, and that demand continues to be strong. "We saw prices move down slightly in December when the Algorta Norte iodine project in Chile [owned by ACF Minera] came online," Baller said, adding that "Algorta has already sold its entire production for 2013".
