  • Resumen
    • After the cases described by the Mayo Clinic for olmesartan severe enteropathy, there have been published several articles that confirmed this potential association in recent years. They shared the same histological findings: villous atrophy and intraepithelial lymphocytosis. There have been several studies of different consideration in assessing whether there is an association between taking olmesartan and the emergence of a similar celiac sprue without clearly associative results. Although some progress has been associated in specific cases as seronegative celiac disease and collagenous colitis. We describe a series of five cases collected in our hospital over a period of 13 months and an initial case study justified the exclusion of any other cause for diarrhoea.

In all cases a receipt for diarrhoea causes other than the use of olmesartan, with improvement and immediate disappearance of it after withdrawal was demonstrated.

A comprehensive study should be performed to objectify the correlation between the uses of this drug and clinical gastrointestinal described in our sample and in previous literature
