Building a railway track is an extremely laborious task and every aspect of its construction and exploitation must be taken into account. The basic structure takes priority in this study.
Every aspect and all the factors that touch upon the construction of the foundations of a railway track are exhaustively dealt with in this work which also takes into account the fact that its maintenance should be a minimal burden. This dual consideration is of particular topicality in the light of demands made by the need for high speed trains and heavy load goods trains.
The study is completed by further chapters, apart from those devoted to the foundation structure, dealing with outline and works of art and, finally, the economic aspects.
