  • Resumen
    • The Málaga-Fuengirola railway of approximately 31 km and of single track at the present has a regular traffic with an interval of 30 minutes and with a commercial speed of 38 km/h. In the near future it is planned to change to two direct and semidirect train services with an interval of 15 minutes.

The centralized traffic control has been developed by Dimetal, who also installed the system and adjusted it. The central post is at Málaga station, this post being able to operate automatically and normally. The possibility of a local control from the stations also exists.

The C.T.C. installed by Dimetal S.A. utilizes a remote control Westronic S, from WBS. The traffic regulation programs have been developed and designed by Dimetal, S.A.

The automatic control has been carried out by a Hewlet-Packard 2100, a computer connected to the remote control through two printed circuit cards, one of input and one of output.

The operating schedule of this railway is of 18 hours daily, from 6 in the morning till midnight and the centralized control service (C.T.C.) has the same operating hours.

To start a working day the computer requires a certain amount of information: timetables if its is the beginning of a working day, an indication of what type of exploitation is required, information about the real time.

If it is a working day, the computer requires from the operator: location of the trains in their adequate position to take control of traffic; time of departure of the next train from the station it is in; calculation from this time the hours of departure from the rest of the stations.

The different programs which come into operation in the C.T.C. control of Málaga-Fuengirola are stored in the computer's memory. These programs are carried out with modules.

The main programs with which the computer works are: traffic regulation program; westronic driver program; executive program in real time and conventional program.

The incorporation of a computer for the automatic layout of time-tables to de C.T.C. of the Málaga-Fuengirola railway constitutes the first installation of this type in Spain; carried out with Spanish Dimetal, S.A., technique. Its fundamental objective being to unburden the operator in the central post of 90% of the work he had to carry out as a routine during his working day.
