  • Resumen
    • The present article seeks to demonstrate that Hiyawa, a toponym mentioned in the Hieroglyphic Luwian inscription of Çineköy, is not a variation of the better known Ahhiyawa but that it is in fact a different place, to be localised in Cilicia. Further possible occurences of Hiyawa in different languages are discussed along with the history of Hiyawa/Que at the end of 8th century BCB.The separation of Hiyawa and Ahhiyawa, leads to skepticism against Greek influence on Cilicia as early as the 8th century BCB. Thus the name of Muksa/Mopsos and its bearers, who are often thought to be Greek, are reexamined. As a result, it seems, that Mopsos was a Greek, Muksos an Anatolian name and that these names were later identified.
