  La familia Ericaceae se encuentra representada en la Sierra Madre Occidental (SMO) por 13 géneros, 29 especies y cinco taxa infraespecíficos, que pertenecen a cuatro subfamilias y siete tribus. En esa área fisiográfica se registran las ecorregiones donde se distribuyen. La mayor parte de los taxa se localiza en la región Madrense, aunque las tribus Bejarieae y Lyonieae se restringen a la subregión Madrense-Tropical. El total de las especies mexicanas de Arbutus se conoce de la SMO

  Ericaceae (the heath or heather family) is represented in the Sierra Madre Occidental (SMO) by 13 genera, 29 species and five infraspecific taxa, which belong to four subfamilies and seven tribes. The SMO is the largest mountain range in Mexico. We present a list of taxa as well as the ecorregions of the SMO where they occur. Most taxa occur at the Madrean region, although the tribes Bejarieae and Lyonieae are restricted to the Madrean-Tropical subregion. All the Mexican species of Arbutus are present at the SMO
