    Se ha supuesto que la principal dinastía de impresores, editores y libreros de la Sevilla de la primera mitad del siglo XVI, los Cromberger, envió remesas de libros a las colonias españolas en América. En este artículo se cuestiona esta suposición, analizando documentos conservados en archivos españoles y americanos así como algunas ediciones cromberguianas. Se examina una noticia recién descubierta sobre la primera colección de libros importante llevada a las islas Filipinas.

    It has been assumed that the major Seville dynasty of printers, publishers and booksellers during the first half of the sixteenth century, the Crombergers, exported shipments of books to the Spanish colonies in the Americas. This assumption is questioned through an analysis of documents from Spanish and Spanish American archives as well as some Cromberger editions. Recently discovered evidence for the first large book collection taken to the Philippines is provided.
