The article discusses the relationship between modernization and economic inequality throughout U.S. history from 1860 through the mid 2010s, including in regard to income distribution. An overview of the relationship between social classes and politics in the U.S., including working classes' tendency to support left-wing political parties during the 1950s, is provided.
