The article discusses the relations between the U.S. and Europe regarding the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA's) collecting data of European Internet users, including the European Court of Justice's (ECJ's) striking down what is known as the Safe Harbor agreement between the U.S. and Europe. An overview of privacy rights in European Union (EU) countries and the U.S., including in regard to European policymakers' relations with U.S. high technology companies, is provided.
