Resumen de El levantamiento de la planimetría urbana de Cartagena, 1867-1871

Entre 1867 y 1869, en el marco del proyecto topográfico-catastral diseñado por Francisco Coello, la Junta General de Estadística lleva a cabo el levantamiento de cartografía urbana de nueve localidades no madrileñas, entre ellas Cartagena. Esa cartografía se conserva en el Archivo técnico del Instituto Geográfico Nacional. Aunque finalmente el levantamiento quedó inconcluso, se cartografió toda la ciudad y el resultado es una planimetría urbana de gran valor geo-histórico y calidad técnica. El presente trabajo estudia el contexto histórico en se cartografía la ciudad, cómo que realiza el levantamiento catastral, el espacio urbano cartografiado y la cartografía resultante.

Between 1867 and 1869, under the cadastral survey project designed by Francisco Coello, the Junta General de Estadística developed the survey of urban cartography of nine cities, located outside of the province of Madrid, one of them was Cartagena. These maps are kept in the technical archive of the National Geographic Institute. Although the survey was not completed, the whole city was mapped and the result is an urban surveying of great value and a high technical quality. This paper studies the historical context in which the city is mapping, the way the mapping is done, the mapping urban space and the cartography that was drawn.
