  • Resumen
    • The article discusses a lack of intellectual seriousness in the U.S. and its consequences. The author cites the books "The Tipping Point" and a series of short lectures known as TED talks as examples of serious ideas getting condensed into easily-understood content that serves more to make a person think he or she is smart rather than to educate. He says this phenomenon has affected the federal government in Washington, D.C., where he believes original ideas and bold thinking are note welcome. He observes that the publication's list of top global thinkers for 2014 includes nobody who works for the U.S. government.
