The article presents information on an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) called the Wrasse-inspired Agile Near-shore Deformable-fin Automaton (WANDA) developed by researchers at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. Topics discussed include the advantages of WANDA over other AUVs used by the Navy and other AUV prototypes being tested by the Navy. A confirmation by the U.S. Department of Defense of the inclusion of significant investments in underwater robotics in the 2016 budget is also cited.
