  • The article reports on the apparent aversion of Western readers to contemporary Russian literature. Topics discussed include the popularity of the works of several Russian authors including Boris Pasternak and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and several reasons for the unpopularity of contemporary Russian literature among Western readers, particularly in the U.S. Also discussed is the change that has occurred in Russia's literary culture driven by competition among Russian authors in a vibrant marketplace of entertainment and information.
