  • Resumen
    • We understand as wise words those with which certain characters intend to restore the balance to the tragic conflict. In the tragedies of Seneca almost all female characters, protagonists or secondary, pronounce wise words either to satisfiy their desires (the personal balance) or to restore the balance to events. The nurse's character stands out in this function. Her interventions have the same scheme and play an important role in the architecture of the work, likewise in the narrative level than the didactic and in the tragic one. In the tragedies without nurse, another character performs this function. The chorus also contains wise words addressed directly to spectators.
