  Y Galicia está llamada a jugar un importante papel a través de la regasificadora que opera en Mugardos (ría de Ferrol). La terminal gallega es uno de los veintidós puntos de entrada de GNL que actualmente existen en Europa, de los que seis están en España. Como complemento a este protagonismo, la fachada atlántica del sur de Europa será fundamental para el continente europeo tras la entrada en servicio de la ampliación del canal de Panamá y con el inicio de las exportaciones de GNL por parte de EE UU.

  Developments in LNG distribution and equipment LNG: ENERGY SECURITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT Summary: Spain, with its infrastructure, could become a key supplier of liquefied natural gas to Europe. And Galicia could be playing an important role thanks to its regasification plant in Mugardos (the Ferrol Estuary). The Galician terminal is one of just twenty LNG entry points that currently exist in Europe, of which six are in Spain. Complementing the role of the North, southern Europe’s Atlantic coast will become crucial for the European continent when the Panama Canal expansion opens for service and the US begins exporting LNG to Europe.
