Trade between the Aquitaine and central and southern Italy is attested at a low scale before the conquest of the Narbonnaise if one bases on the emergence of Italian amphorae at Bordeaux — "La France". But the founding of the Provincia would originate presumably the importance taken by the trade of the Roman Negotiatores in the Aquitaine. Then, the increase of the catalan wine trade is witnessed as early as the first years of the last third of the first century B.C.; this trade will gradually replace the former one.

Si le commerce entre l'Aquitaine et l'Italie centro-méridionale existe avant la conquête de la Narbonnaise, c'est d'une manière ténue si l'on se fonde sur l'arrivée des amphores italiques sur le site de Bordeaux-« La France ». En revanche, la création de la Provincia serait à l'origine de l'importance prise en Aquitaine par le commerce des Negotiatores romains. On assiste ensuite au développement du commerce du vin catalan dès les premières années du dernier tiers du Ier s. av. J.-C; commerce qui va progressivement remplacer le précédent.
