In their Viewpoint on ethical and logistic considerations of using patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures in research, Mr Kyte and colleagues1 discussed active PRO alert monitoring. In PRO alert monitoring, predefined thresholds for alert generation and action plans are established for when research participants report psychological or physical symptoms of potential concern.
