Elizabeth R. Seaquist

  • The prevalence of diabetes continues to increase around the globe. In 2010, an estimated 26 million individuals in the United States had diabetes and 79 million persons older than 20 years had prediabetes.1 If the current epidemic is not addressed, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that as many as 1 in 3 people in the United States could have diabetes by the year 2050.2
