This paper aims at, on the one hand, presenting the very difficult to detect role of stage manager in the show biz industry which, in a certain way, has being smoothly changing the Portuguese theatre, and, on the other hand, revealing an obscure profesion in the show biz industry that has an organizing role in theatre production offering new methods and dynamics to the demanding creative process of entertainment.

O artigo propõe-se apresentar qual o papel do diretor de cena: um cargo muito discreto nas artes do espetáculo que de certa forma tem vindo a revolucionar de forma subtil o teatro português. Tem como objetivo dar a conhecer uma actividade desconhecida, mesmo para muitos dos que trabalham nas artes do espetáculo, com funções estruturantes para a realização teatral, criando novas metodologias e aproximações criativas ao espetáculo, que se tornou mais complexo e exigente nos últimos anos
