    El artículo presenta un acercamiento sistemático al ambiente intelectual latinoamericano del tercer cuarto del siglo XX, los años previos al advenimiento del neoliberalismo. Para ello se hace un análisis histórico de la aparición del concepto de desarrollo, se estudian las corrientes que desde lo económico y lo cultural intentaron imponer sus términos en la comprensión de esta noción y, asimismo, se examinan las características más destacadas que tuvieron las prácticas intelectuales de estas décadas.

    This article presents a systematic approach to the intellectual Latin American field in the third quarter of the 20th century, that is in the years that anticipate the advent of neo-liberalism. The study offers a historical analysis of the concept of development, as well as an exploration of the economic and cultural trends that contributed to the installment of this concept. Finally, the article focuses on outstanding features of the intellectual practices during the period.
