Resumen de Theoretical framework for the study of the origins of the journalistic biographies in Spain

Este artículo pretende aportar un contexto teórico que ayude a entender las características de los primeros textos biográficos publicados en la prensa española del siglo XIX. Para construir este marco se ha tomado como punto de referencia las preceptivas literarias de la época, donde la biografía, paradójicamente, apenas se explica pero se clasifica como un género histórico-literario. Para comprender de forma profunda el género es necesario, por tanto, tratar de explicar qué se entendía por Historia, Literatura y biografía en aquella época y cuáles de esas características han podido contribuir a la formación de los textos biográficos en prensa.

The aim of this article is to offer a theoretical framework in order to provide a better understanding of the main features of the first biographies published in the Spanish 19th century press. Building such a framework has only been possible through the study of the literary preceptives of that time where, as a matter of fact, biographies are hardly explained but are often classified as a historical or literary genre. An explanation of what it was meant by History, Literature and Biography at those times and which of those features could have contributed to the evolution of biographies in the press remain essential for an in-depth study of such a genre.
