  The funerary monuments of the Champ del Mas at Banassac (Lozère) were discovered in 1989, while surveying an area where the motorway A75 was going to be built; they were extensively excavated in 1990. Two adjacent buildings and four cremations were then uncovered and studied in detail. The site study brings interesting data on the organization of a small rural cemetery of the early Empire, in an area where land occupation as well as the relationship between habitat and funerary areas are still poorly known.

  Repérés en 1989 à l'occasion des prospections préalables à la construction de l'autoroute A 75, les monuments funéraires gallo-romains du Champ del Mas à Banassac (Lozère) ont pu faire l'objet d'une fouille extensive en 1990. Deux bâtiments contigus et 4 tombes à incinération des Ier et IIe s. de notre ère ont pu être mis en évidence et étudiés en détail. L'étude de ce gisement apporte des données intéressantes sur l'organisation d'un petit cimetière rural du Haut-Empire, dans une région où l'occupation du sol et les rapports entre habitat et monde des morts sont encore mal connus.
