    Es interesante comprobar que, 400 años después de la primera edición de los Comentarios reales, éste es un libro que sigue leyéndose, se compra en las librerías y se pide en las bibliotecas. Este elogio es el mayor que puede hacerse: la credibilidad de un libro, porque no se trata del libro que se vende en la esquina de un semáforo y tiene vigencia de un mes, sino de un libro de presencia permanente del Perú. He aquí una idea fundamental que no se puede reducir a un tópico sin contenido. Debe llevar a una reflexión sobre la historia nacional, puesto que Garcilaso es en cierto modo el hilo conductor de la memoria peruana.

    It is interesting to prove that after 400 years of the first edition of the Royal Commentaries, this is a book that is still read, bought in bookstores and requested in libraries. This is the greatest compliment that can be done: the credibility of a book, because this book is not sold on the corner of a traffic lights and is valid for one month but a book of permanent presence of Peru. Here is a fundamental idea that can not be reduced to a topic without content. It should lead to reflection on the national history, as Garcilaso is somehow the connecting thread of the Peruvian memory.
