This article has objective to argue the use of the material culture while source for the historiography. In specific, the worked material sources are focused on the construction of the prehistoric knowledge, where, in general mode, it is a task attributed to the archaeologists and overlooked by the historians.

Este artigo tem objetivo discutir a utilização da cultura material enquanto fonte para a historiografia. Em específico, as fontes materiais trabalhadas são voltadas para a construção do conhecimento pré-histórico, onde, de modo geral, é uma tarefa atribuída aos arqueólogos e menosprezada pelos historiadores.
