In this work, we aim to discuss the specific relationship between Archeology and History, from the perspective of the rock art case study of some archaeological sites in the Cariri region, in Paraíba State. In fact, therefore, we will discuss the linkages between Prehistoric Archeology - one of the many fields in which archaeological studies are currently subdivided - and History. The focal point of this discussion is to establish the relationship between the environment and the archaeological sites, using the case of archaeological sites located at the Western Cariri, in the Paraíba State, in northeastern Brazil, from a concept of materiality and of thing. It was considered the case of the population that was laid in a semi-arid environment, as presented in the preliminary results of several studies conducted in the region about people holding various forms of documentary production, that are beyond the standard traditionally considered.
