    This article proposes to study the short story written by Raul Leal and pu­blished in 1915 under the title “Atelier” in the Orpheu review. In order to outline what the Demonism is, we shall analyze its fantastic aspect in con­nection with occultism and madness. Afterwards, the sexual deviances expressed in the narrative will be examined. All this study attempts to highlight the poe­tic proposed by the author, based on Desire and Pain.

    Este artigo propõe-se a estudar a novela escrita por Raul Leal e publicada sob o título “Atelier” em 1915 na revista Orpheu. A fim de delimitar o que é o Demonismo, analisaremos o aspecto fantástico do texto ligado ao ocul­tismo e à loucura. A seguir, trataremos dos desvios sexuais expressos na narrativa. Tudo isso para tentar salientar a poética proposta pelo autor e baseada no Desejo e na Dor.
