    El caso de un país marginal en el sistema internacional, la República de Uzbekistán (ex soviética), es ilustrativo para demostrar las dificultades de la política exterior estadounidense en relación a esa área del mundo. La autora, académica rusa, sostiene que el vacío de poder en el Asia Central pos-soviética (Kazajstán, Turkmenistán, Uzbekistán, Kirguistan y Tayikistán) es rellenado por Estados Unidos de manera parcial, trabado parcialmente por las incongruencias entre los enfoques del Legislativo y Ejecutivo estadounidense.

    The case of a marginal country in the international system, the Uzbekistan Republic (ex USSR) is a good example to demonstrate the difficulties the American foreign policy has, related to that area of the world. The author, a Russian academic, makes the point that the vacuum of power in Central Asia post USSR (Kazajstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kirgizstan and Tayikistan) is partially refilled by the US, and partially blocked because of the incongruence of the different approaches either from the American executive as from the legislative branch.
