Resumen de Carcinome thyroïdien chez une chienne airedale terrier

  An 11-year old Airedale terrier bitch was referred for evaluataion of a cervical mass, for which the cytological analysis was suggestiveof a thyroid tumour. The owner also reported digestive disorders and recent occurrence of polyuria-polydipsia. The exploration of these two syndromes concluded acute pancreatitis and glomerulopathy. Local or distant metastases were not identified during screening for spread of the cervical mass.

  Surgical resection of the mass was therefore carried out and histology of the tumour established the definitive diagnosis of compact thyroid carcinoma. The tumour type has metastasis potential and adjuvant chemotherapy based on carboplatin was initiated.

  Une chienne airedale terrier âgée de 11 ans est référée pour l'évaluation d'une masse cervicale dont l'analyse cytologique est évocatrice d'une tumeur thyroïdienne. La propriétaire a rapporté également des troubles digestifs et une plyuro-polydipsie d'apparition récente. L'exploration de ces deux syndromes a permis de conclure à une pancréatite aiguë et à une glomérulopathie. Le bilan d'extension de la masse cervicale n'a pas permis d'identifier de métastase locale ou à distanc. Une exérèse chirurgicale de la masse a donc été réalizée et l'analyse histologique de la tumeur a permis d'établir le diagnostic définitif de carcinome thyroïdien compact. En raison du poentiel métastatique de ce type tumoral, une protocole de chimiothérapie adjuvante à base de carboplatine a été initié.
