Resumen de El portazgo de Salamanca en la Edad Media

En este artículo se aborda el estudio del portazgo de Salamanca en la Edad Media. En particular se analizan los motivos de su cobro, las exenciones, las penalizaciones a los infractores, los perceptores y beneficiarios, las diversas tarifas monetarias y en especie del arancel que recaían sobre las mercancías traídas a vender a la ciudad o sobre las que atravesaban su tierra, la vigencia temporal y ámbito territorial del mismo, el lugar, así como los encargados y el procedimiento de su cobranza, para terminar con una aproximación a su volumen y evolución económica.

This article analyses the portazgo (entrance and exit toll) in the city of Salamanca during the Middle Ages. Specifically, we address the reasons for its collection, its exemptions, penalties for offenders and its recipients and beneficiaries. Moreover, we also study the different kinds of monetary and in-kind tariffs charged on the goods brought to the city to sell or those which crossed its territory. The time span and territorial context for this tariff are also approached, as well as the place where this tax was collected, the people responsible for its collection and the procedure used. The article concludes with an approximation of the amount involved and its economic development.
