The industrial analysis of metals is currently in a state of change. Many of the large primary plants or large die-casters still rely on instruments up to 30 years old. Despite their age, the hardware is still functional, but servicing costs can be quite high, additional hardware to enable the analysis of additional element is expensive and the readout electronics/computer hardware and software is perhaps not supported anymore.
