Resumen de Petróleo, tecnología y raza en México

Luis Avelino Sánchez Graillet

  • Oil, technology and race in MexicoThe unforeseen nationalization of the oil industry in Mexico is here interpreted in the light of the general prejudice concerning Mexican technological capabilities. Such prejudice is then discussed under the general trend in colonialism and capitalism to organize labor according to racial categories. Taking the oil industry in Mexico as a case study, it is then argued that one of the relevant functions of the racialized labor relations is to administrate and to limit the technological knowledge interchanges, since such practices sustain privileges for certain groups as well as to made possible for the companies to control the production processes.
