The essentials of the current skills of singing teaching were consolidated during the 19th century. The prescripts of the “Italian school of singing” were spread over the main European countries. Spain was not indifferent to the above mentioned operatic influence, and soon the spanish vocal lyric repertoire had to be adapted and began to be performed “a la italiana”, this is to say “in the Italian way”. In consequence, some concepts related to the vocal didactics as: teacher of singing, types of systems of education, “lírica” and categories of pedagogic works had to be reconsidered. By making clear this evolution we would be able to understand the methods that the voice teachers use at the present moment during the process of teaching and learning.
