    Por humanidad y justicia, así se pueden definir los dos motivos por los que el Gobierno de México, bajo la presidencia de Lorenzo Cárdenas, se convirtió en el aliado más eficaz y desinteresado del Gobierno de la II República española durante casi los tres años que duró la Guerra Civil Española (1936-1939). Humanidad, por compartir sus reservas alimentarias con un país necesitado de ellas, vendiéndoselas sin aprovecharse en encarecer los precios. Justicia, por empeñar toda su capacidad armamentística y por ayudar a conseguir armas en favor de un país al que le estaba vetado adquirirlas en casi todo el mundo, sino era a un precio desorbitado.

    In the interest of humanity and justice, was why the Government of Mexico, under the presidency of Lorenzo Cárdenas, became the most effective and disinterested ally of the Government of the Second Spanish Republic for the duration of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Humanity: by sharing their food reserves with a country in need, selling their food without raising the prices. Justice: By putting their military arms at the disposal of the Spanish Government and by helping to obtain arms for a country that had an almost total arms embargo against it, unless they were prepared to pay exorbitant price.
