  • This move is yet to yield any new production. All vein graphite mines in Sri Lanka are deep underground operations and require not only expertise but up front capital. A source told IM Data that, other than the Bogala Graphite Lanka and Kahatagaha Graphite Lanka projects, only the Ragedara mine was in production with a minimal output of around 10 tonnes.

    Vein graphite prices for 99.1% C, +1 mesh, have remained at $2,750-$2,850/tonne. Similarly prices for -8 mesh, 91% C, and -200 mesh, 96% C grades have been set at $950-$1050/tonne and $1,950-$2,050/tonne respectively, unchanged since H2 2012 (all prices FOB Sri Lanka).
