  • The Spanish Ambassador to the UK, Federico Trillo, chairs the 29th Assembly SPAIN RE-ELECTED TO THE COUNCIL AS ONE OF THE STATES “WITH THE LARGEST INTEREST IN INTERNATIONAL SEABORNE TRADE” Summary: The 29th International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly met in London from 23rd November to 2nd December 2015 and was chaired by the Spanish Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Federico Trillo-Figueroa. Also of note, alongside the chairmanship of the Ambassador,was the re-election of Spain as a member of the Council in Category B as one of the ten states “with the largest interest in international seaborne trade”;

    the endorsement of Mr. Kitack Lim as the new IMO Secretary General; and the ratification by Indonesia, Morocco and Ghana of the International Convention on BallastWater Management which could lead to its entry into force on 24th November 2016.
