Marsec 2016 Joint Maritime Exercise off-Cartagena VARIOUS AGENCIES COLLABORATE IN MARITIME DISASTER OF GREAT PROPORTIONS Summary: The aim of the joint maritime MARSEC exercises is to test the Spanish Navy’s Maritime Action Force and its capacity to work together with other organizations in maritime security operations aimed at improving coordination at sea between naval, governmental and non-governmental assets. The exercises cover a wide range of situations, including collaboration to rescue ships in distress, and coordination in maritime disasters of great proportions. This article describes the action taken in Scenario 2 off Cartagena waters.
