    The Information Society has not been earmarked to be typically japanese. The products of it which emerge high enough above the complexity threshhold to instill the hope that we will learn from it a part of what is still unknown in the ways of the communication, are all american. The contribution of the Japanese can be ascribed to the mastership of the organization of the computerized NC machine-tools. Consequently it does not lie where it is often believed.

    La société de l'information n'a pas choisi le Japon pour naître. Les produits de son rayon qui dépassent assez le seuil de complexité pour qu'on puisse attendre d'eux qu'ils nous enseignent ce qu'on ne sait pas encore des voies de la communication, sont tous américains. La spécialité des Japonais réside en fait dans l'organisation des machines-outils informatisées ; c'est-à-dire qu'elle n'est pas là où on la voit d'habitude.
