  • Resumen
    • Cuttings from the Passionary P+ of the Biblioteca Capitolare Feliniana in Lucca.

The decoration of the well-known Passionary P+ of the Biblioteca Capitolare Feliniana in Lucca is incomplete: four folios have been cut in order to remove the decorated initials at the opening of the hagiographic texts for the commemoration of St. Symeon (an Armenian monk and hermit who died in Polirone), the Apostle Bartholomew, Fausta the wife of Bishop Cassius from Narni, and of the more famous Martin, Bishop of Tours. The four cuttings are still preserved, and it has been possible to identify them among the fragments of manuscripts kept in private collections or from those which have recently re-appeared on the antiquarian market. Three of them are in the collection of Huis Bergh castle in 's-Heerenberg (The Netherlands); the fourth fragment, with the "passio" of St. Bartholomew, has been discovered as part of the sale of a private collection. The identification of the fragments, which have never been connected to the Passionary P+ before, has allowed the reconstruction of the decoration of the manuscript and the evaluation of the importance of the cult of some saints venerated in Lucca.
