  • The article reports the move by the Food & Water Watch and the National Farmers Union as of mid-September 2016 to partner in asking the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (Cfius) to stop the acquisition by China National Chemical (ChemChina) of Swiss agribusiness Syngenta. The reasons are to prevent the Chinese from spying U.S. military installations as Syngenta's facilities are near them and food security. Also cited is the foiled sale of light emitting diode (LED) maker Lumileds.
