A lo largo de los siglos XVI y XVII los servicios de espías y confidentes constituyeron una herramienta muy valiosa para la diplomacia y la acción de gobierno de numerosas cancillerías europeas. Esta contribución pretende analizar el impacto económico que suponía su financiación y reconstruir el perfil, vicisitudes y mentalidad de las personas que se integraron en las redes de espionaje de la Monarquía Hispánica durante la primera mitad del siglo XVII.

Along the 16th and 17th centuries the services of the spies and the informants rep- resented a very valuable tool for the Diplomacy and the Government decisions in many Eu- ropean chancelleries. This contribution pretends to analyse the economic impact of their ac- tivities and to reconstruct the profile, mentality and vicissitudes of the people who integrated the networks of espionage of the Hispanic Monarchy during the first half of 17th century.
