  En el año 2007 se llevó a cabo una profunda reforma de la enseñanza militar, que habría de tener una gran importancia de cara a las Fuerzas Armadas y cuyos efectos aún no se conocen. El propósito fundamental de este capítulo era realizar un análisis de dicha reforma, pero difícilmente se entendería sin presentar una visión panorámica e histórica de la evolución de las enseñanzas en los ejércitos. Así, se recorren diversas etapas hasta llegar a la época actual, analizando con algo más de detalle las leyes de los años 1964, 1989, 1999 y finalmente la de 2007. Dado que el tema era muy amplio se ha limitado el capítulo a la enseñanza superior de oficiales y dentro de ella a las enseñanzas técnicas e ingenierías. Se estudia también la cooperación entre las instituciones militares y las civiles, academias y universidades, en los procesos de formación, en especial en la formación de posgrado o perfeccionamiento. Se llama la atención sobre el riesgo de que los nuevos Centros Universitarios de Defensa (CUD), imbricados en las academias y escuelas militares y adscritos a universidades públicas, tiendan a cerrar una cooperación que ha sido muy fructífera y a disminuir la llamada «cultura de defensa».

  In the year 2007 it was carried out an in-depth reform of military education, which would be of great importance in the face of the armed forces, and whose effects are not yet known. The main purpose of this chapter was an analysis of this reform but it can be hard to be understood without presenting a panoramic and historical review of the evolution of teaching in the armies.

  So, several stages are considered until current time is reached, analyzing with somewhat more detail the laws of the years 1964, 1989, 1999 and finally the 2007 one. Given the breadth of the issue, the chapter has been limited to higher education for officers, and within it, the technical and engineering teaching. The cooperation between military and civilian ―academies and universities― institutions in their teaching processes is also studied, especially postgraduate and specialization training. Attention is called on the risk that the new Defence University Centres (CUD), interwoven with the military academies and schools and attached to public universities, might tend to close a cooperation that has been very fruitful and to decrease the so called «culture of defence».
