Resumen de The annotations of Nicolaus Cusanus and Giovanni Andrea Bussi on the "Asclepius"
The writer discusses the different ways in which Cardinal Nicolaus Cusanus and his learned secretary Giovanni Andrea Bussi approached the text of the Asclepius. The differing extent and character of their notes on the Latin manuscript at Brussels, Bibliothèque Royale Albert 1er 10054–56 show that they conceived their activity on the manuscript in different ways. Cusanus in more interested in philosophical understanding, while Bussi is almost exclusively concerned with philological matters: His principle concern is to recover the accurate text of the Hermetic work. The value of the Brussels manuscript lies not only in these difference, but also in its bearing witness to an age anxious to understand its own historical roots.
